Mildred Batchelder Award
Given to the publisher of the most outstanding book for young readers originally published in another country, translated into English and published in the United States each year by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association. Established in 1966. For children “up to and including age 14.”

USBBY Outstanding International Books (OIB) List
An honor list of the most outstanding international books for young people. An international book is defined as a book “published or distributed in the United States that originated or was first published in a country other than the United States.” Begun in 2006, published in School Library Journal each year.
Hans Christian Andersen Awards
Presented every two years to a living author and illustrator for lasting contribution to the field of children's literature. This award is administered by IBBY, the International Board on Books for Young People. Each national section can nominate candidates for the award.

Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award
The "world's largest children's literature award" presented annually to an author, illustrator, oral storyteller or person active in promoting reading. Previous winners include Shaun Tan, (Australia), Christine Nostlinger (Austria), Lygia Bojunga (Brazil), Katherine Paterson and Phillip Pullman (England).
