Recently SLJ Blogger Travis Jonker's (100 Scope Notes) post featured "The Wildest Books of 2013." These picture books are innovative in design and at times, push the boundaries of what many think of as a picture book -- in surprising and delightful ways. I was pleasantly surprised at how many books from countries other than the US are included.
They include:
Little Ghost Party by Jacques Duquennoy (France)
The Hole by Oyvind Torseter (Norway)
Open This Little Book illustrated by Suzy Lee (Korea; currently lives in Singapore)
Topsy Turvy World by Atak
That Night a Monster . . . by Marzena Sowa, illustrated by Berenika Kolomycka
Hopefully this article will help many more people discover these creative artist's work. So far I've only seen Open this Little Book. I know I'll be looking for the others!
